Shay Mitchell is Canadian actress,model and businesswoman. Her most well-known role was that of Emily Fields from the Freeform television series Pretty Little Liars. She took acting classes in Toronto after excelling in dance and modeling. Mitchell gained commercial roles as well as acting roles as a guest in TV shows. Her breakthrough came in the form of was cast in Emily Fields' role in Pretty Little Liars. Her performance was well-received for her talents by critics as well with fans. Her next step was to make a mark on the screen, through films such as The Dreamland Mother's Dayand The Possession of Hannah Grace. The actress gained more attention when she appeared in the cult psychological show You. Aside from actingShay has also dabbled in writing. She wrote Bliss an adult novel, along with Michaela Blayne. Shay Mitchell was raised in Ontario by parents Mark Mitchell & Precious Gonzalez. Her birth date was 10th April 1987. She is of Filipina descent, and her father has Scottish/Irish roots. Mitchell is also a cousin of Lea Salonga, a famed musician and musical theater actor. Mitchell went to Rockridge Secondary school before she was transferred to West Vancouver Secondary. As she grew older, Mitchell had worked for several modeling companies across the globe. The trip took her across the world to Barcelona Bangkok Hong Kong before finally returning home and studying the art of acting at Toronto.
